Ethiopia - The land of Afar
The land of Afar has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1974 the famous Lucy was disovered. In the heart of the Afar desert, in the north of Ethiopia, the nomads live of their flocks of goats and sheep. The more wealthy posses some cows, and sometimes camels. The people of Afar are mainly nourished from the milk of their animals. This desert is the hottest region in the world.These men are above all warriors with a proud and dignified look in their eyes. They worship their hair until the age of 20 and that is how they please the women.
